Understanding Trent's Vision
After attending culinary school, Trent went on to start his bakery, Pastry Playhouse in Atlanta, Georgia. Drawing inspiration from his late grandmother's creativity and values, self proclaimed "Atl's Cake King" set out with a clear goal: to create photorealistic cakes that he could take pride in and that would amaze his customers. To modernize his creations, he launched his social media brand, where he regularly shared videos and images. After a few years juggling his bakery, full-time job, and content creation, he approached me to revamp his brand with video editing and designs.
The Search for a Solution
After a brief conversation with Trent, I understood what he was all about. He was a generous and optimistic family man who had real passion for his craft. His personal brand was a talented cake maker, but because of his warm personality, I urged him to add his personality into his work. His initial content purely consisted of tutorials, but would change to personal stories. This pivot would add authenticity to his brand, creating a stronger connection with viewers, allowing them to see the man behind the cakes.
"The thing I am most proud of about my company is the image I present to the community and my ability to inspire the young to chase their dreams."

Youtube Banners
For the original banner, it consisted of the logo with "HOME OF ATL'S CAKE KING" beside it. For the new banners, I continued with the established teal and pink color scheme, creating this playful and inviting aesthetic. These banners utilizes Trent's actual cakes and maintains his moniker. The background design is reminiscent of cake textures, adding a delightful touch to the overall look and feel.

Youtube Thumbnails
To create a channel identity that viewers would instantaneously recognize, I followed the same formula for each of the thumbnails:
-
Identifying Text: A condensed summary of Pastry Playhouse is that it's a brand focused on cake making. So for new viewers, I wanted to leave little to the imagination for new viewers by adding text clarifying that its about cake.
-
Cake-Related Environment: The background of each thumbnail is carefully curated to reflect the theme of the featured cake. To maintain a playful aesthetic, the environment is unrealistic, but engaging.
-
Trent Shown as a Caricature: Although hyper-realistic cakemaking is a more niche genre, it was crucial to distinguish Trent from other creators. So why not put Trent front and centers in an expressive manner alongside props related to the featured cake.
Editing Style
Because the nature of hyper realistic cake-making is so creative and visually compelling, I went with a fast-paced tempo in post-production. This showcases Trent's high level of skill, allowing viewers to quickly see the effort and artistry involved in each creation. To enhance the video's pace, I incorporated numerous inserts throughout each video. These include images and animations that relate to Trent's dialogue, as well as captions highlighting impactful phrases.

Reflection
Working with Trent has been a wonderful opportunity. As someone who has had a passion for videography since childhood, transforming the brand of Pastry Playhouse provided me valuable experience. Collaborating with Trent has not only allowed me to hone my skills as a video editor and designer, but has taught me collaboration and adaptability, as there were internal conflicts involving different creative visions and approaches. However, these conflicts ultimately led to constructive discussions and a more refined final product.
Overall, working with Trent and Pastry Playhouse has been a rewarding experience that has pushed me to grow as an individual and professional. I am grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of this project and look forward to applying the skills and knowledge I have gained to future endeavors.
